Anyone know of any good inexpensive range finders that can range to or slightly over 1000 yards. I have rsnge finder that is rated to 1000 yards but have never been able to get it to register past 600.

Most will only register large reflective surfaces at their maximum ranges. For a hunting type rangefinder just think 50% of the said yardage range as the maximum.
There is no such thing as a good/inexpensive in any type of optics. They are either good,or they are inexpensive.
Leica makes one of the best rangefinders for the money.

Try camerland for a Leica demo, I got one a while back and really like it, saved a few bucks by buying a demo which by the way was as good as new. Leica is tops in my book.

The Leica is a good choice. The very inexpensive range finders are a waste of money. :)
