How many more washers do you think they should have put on this bolt? I'm going with 3 IMG_20201024_114206907.jpg

A friend of mine had an uncle in Vietnam. He had told me that 20 some odd years ago, his uncle was showing him his scrapbook from the war. He flipped a page & there were half a dozen or so things that looked like dried leaves. He asked his uncle what's that, & he replied "oh those are ears" & flipped the page.

My grandpa on dad's side was also a Marine in the pacific in WWII. After he died & we were going through his stuff we found a machete very similar to this.
    ww2-philippines-bolo-machete_1_a1b11aa32ae1e256d268d167b6027186.jpg
One on side was very ornate ingravings into the wood scabbard & on the other it said "Manny P.I. 1944" which we interpreted as Manilla, Philippine Islands 1944.
He didn't talk about the war much, if at all, until the last few years he was alive & he never showed any of us the machete so we never got to hear if there was a story behind it.

Yeah, we have idle shutdowns programmed into our trucks but they use the lights with the key off so we use deep cycles and we're still replacing batteries way too often. The yellow tops are dual purpose.

I love my AK- bought mine in January at a gun store in Poland Maine (yes that’s really the name- for some reason, a bunch of remote towns in rural Western Maine are named after foreign countries- Denmark, Norway, Mexico, China, Paris, Sweden, and of course Poland) I love it- so much fun to shoot- and you never need to clean it- I only clean mine to keep the smell of spent Berdan primer out of my house. Way more fun than an AR15, and if you ever needed a SHTF rifle- 7.62x39 Russian is actually powerful enough for taking most game in most of the country (of course here in Maine we practically need a tank (a 270 or 300 win mag) to take down our big game, but thankfully we have only about .007 people in this state- so I really only something for 4 legged game and not 2 (except turkeys- cuz let’s be honest- even in the apocalypse, a life without turkey dinner is not a life worth living)

Best chance right now is to notify at Palmetto State Armory. Prices are high and a lot of junk out there. The PSAK 47 past the 5k round test by AK operators union. You will be looking at around $700.

The Century Arms VSKA is my go to auto loading rifle- much better fit and finish, better quality, better materials, and only about a $100 more. I’d go with the Century VSKA- which they call their “Heavy Duty AK”- and it’s made right here in the backwoods of New England (they are in northern Vermont) where the American firearms industry was born and continues to be the best in the world

I'm here to tell you, as a borderline alcoholic who drinks bourbon, Irish whiskey and scotch almost exclusively, I haven't been sick in years, I've never had the flu and colds are rare. Whiskey is the answer.

I went to a small local gun show today. Prices were astronomical. I think everyone emptied their old ammo boxes and want lots of money for old beat up boxes. They did have one very good buy. Military 50 cal ammo boxes in very good shape for $6.

I grew up in a small town in Worcester County (the birthplace of the American Revolution) MA, and every trailer trash son of a gun (a population which made up 200% of the town) was drinking a bottle of 101 each night- I never heard of a single person getting a cold, never mind the flu- while folks in the Boston and Springfield suburbs would be talking about it being a bad flu season- we never had a sniffle in our area. Sadly, the ‘Rona isn’t the same- my parents still live there in Mass and their area has been ravaged by the virus (granted, the already existing heroin epidemic wasn’t giving the best starting point).

image.jpg They’re such great guns- I only wish that the Bakelite pistol grips came standard (I put mine on after)
