Vulcan steam powered hammers later used compressed air making them much easier to use in northern climates. When we used steam we would have to hang them from a crane to let the moisture out or they would freeze overnight.

You need to get with a club. Most have a bunch of old pharts that can fix those old cars. I know several that have all the tools and lifts. We have a bunch of old cars and old pharts driving them around here. Deuce across the street and a 48 Ford sedan just moved into the culdesac.

In all seriousness I’ve never had a problem with the retaining pin, not that a pair of needle nose pliers wouldn’t fix. While I do have extras I’ve had them for years and they have dust on them. LOL

My current retaining pin is perfectly fine, rifle has only exactly 410 rounds through it of various brands and never had a problem. My guess it just needs a lot more breaking in since some parts are still somewhat stiff.

Got a parts list from a friend. That's his truck gun and I liked it.

It's going to be just as much of a treasure hunt as it will be an AR build. Things have gotten harder to acquire lately.

As a whole it'll be very educational. I've never done this before but I have friends with greater knowledge, and lots of how-to video online to fall back on.

I’m definitely building an AR next once things come back to normal. If I can make upgrades here and there on my current AR. I should definitely be fine building one.

May do a Pistol or Carbine. But this is once things come back to normal and I’ve acquired some more ammo.

I thought about that - upgrading mine until I have enough leftovers to rebuild the original.

But that seems like more work than just building the next gun, and I won't risk screwing up the one I have working right now.

Plus there are probably some balancing issues I'd run across.

I thinking it'll be a flop. Sounds to me like the sheriff is looking to add to his supply.

    "No black powder, military munitions....."

    Military munitions? Seriously?

Are you people really thinking things will get back to normal? I am afraid this is the New Normal and I am not liking it.
