I read a book by Bruce Campbell recently. A very articulate and entertaining guy. He is spending his life acting in and producing low budget action adventure films:

Sidekick to Kevin Sorbo for life, and he's fine with that. after reading his book I have become an aficionado of low budget action adventure films. See what they accomplish with what little they have. If I had the funds I would buy DVDs of his movies, and Warehouse 13 and Eureka and the like and binge watch those.

he despises Lord of the rings. he never watched it, but he loathes it. He was making a low budget western series, starring himself, in New Zealand. The LOTR crew came along, bought or rented every large black horse in New Zealand, which included the horse he was using. He ended up riding around on a draft horse.

There have been times that my system will not let me Cross a part number without year, make and model, sometimes the catalog set up is stupid. And sometimes the customers are the stupid ones.

the old quote, which never gets attributed to anyone, was really "the customer is hardly ever right, but always treat him as though he is"

if you walk into a camera store - a real, old school camera store, not Ritz camera - and you walk straight to the biggest tripod in the place, set it up without needing instruction, an older salesman will intercept the kid who comes up to say "hey, mister, you can't do that". that salesman will tell the kid "he's one of mine" and introduce himself as the pro salesman. he will answer your questions, let you examine things and leave you alone. you will get the pro discount. They seem to like their job.

All I'm saying is, some people shouldn't be allowed to work on their own vehicles.

I've done a couple wiring jobs on my truck that would make even the most slack-jawed shade tree mechanic cringe. To my credit no electrical fires yet.

My last fix was a couple weeks ago. A couple rectangular pieces of scrap metal I cut up with the grinder and a handful or self tappers. Not pretty but it keeps my headache rack from flying off going down the highway 20200407_204257.jpeg

After I hit a million miles I'll consider retiring this truck and getting a new one.

I'm negotiating with a guy on armslist right now, he has a 10.5 inch super blackhawk that he wants to trade for a shorter .44, I like the pure ridiculous of the gun Screenshot_20200407-212616_Chrome.jpeg

Also electronics are easy, there are only so many ways you can manipulate electrons and the rules never change.
