I had an accidental discharge in my house a couple weeks ago, Winchester 180 fmj. I was expecting it to do some damage in the house, but not really. Went through the very edge of a mirrored cabinet ( it was in a bathroom), like an 1/8 inch of it. Into another cabinet right next to it, through a can of hair spray, and into the wall. Total distance traveled was about 8 inches. No damage to the outside of the house, nothing in the room next to it, nothing in the floor/ ceiling. Is this normal for 180 fmj?

The hair spray probably glued it to the wall.

Depends on what it hit in the wall. Newer or older house? Wall studs are resistant in newer houses and damn tough in the older ones. And, there are no accidental discharges. They go off when one presses the trigger. At best call it an unintentional discharge, but really it is a negligent discharge.

Leave the guy alone about the discharge. He came clean, no one got hurt, and you can bet a lesson was learned. Sooner or later most everyone that shoots much has one go off when they did not want it to.

Easy there, wall! Just jazzin' a little bit! And yeah, I've made my own "peephole" in the wall before. :)

Ain't too worried about being hacked on, part of life...lol
But the house was built in the late 50's. And I'd have to remove the cabinet to see just what it hit.

No I wasn't quick drawing, that is where one of my gun safes is located. I was unloading it and not paying attention, then BAM!!! Scared the hell out of me that's for sure.

I just tested my 180 grain...it went through a lamp shade, a wildlife print, two walls and lodged in the toaster.... I'm thinkin' you ran into a bad batch.
