Question about 45 ACP brass

.45 has gotten scarce as more folks have moved to .40 and 9mm. Not a great deal, but not bad either in this market.

Thats 12 cents each. At the lgs they usually get 5 cents each. It depends on how bad you want it.

6 months ago .45 brass was selling for $.07 ea. Today its probably closer to $.10.

Im heaving a buddy start reloading for me. And this is to get me started with him and as I shoot it he will reload it. I haven't checked anywhere to see prices but he said it wasn't to bad of a deal?

Or you can spend around 40 cents each for cheap factory loads and shoot them and save the brass.

The problem is I can't fine any 45 ammo anywhere around me. That's the main reason I am looking into reloads.

If you can't find any then bite the bullet and offer the guy 30. It's usually 25 bucks for 500 through an individual around me.

Great deal? Not really. Not an appallingly bad one either. Everything has jumped up some in price due to the recent panic. I'd see if I could get him down below $.10 per case, just on principle. YMMV.
Unstated reloading rule:
Once you get to the point where you finally say. "to heck with it" and buy a big bag of brass, you will immediately come across better deals EVERYWHERE you turn. The worst will be that guy who says "You should have asked me, I'd have just given you (or traded for some beer) 500 to get you going."

You may try to trade for something he needs? Most of the time a trade will benefit both parties more. If not try for $30.00, or split the difference=$35.00-see, I just saved you $5.00 HA HA...

I have not seen mentioned here yet-be sure to inspect each case after purchase for Small Pistol primed cases? Sometimes they are mixed in with the lot+can cause some frustrations during the priming operation. No problem with using the SP cases, just as you would LP, you just need to separate them to batch prime with the SP primers.

I've ran across this also in the 10MM brass, and it can be a pain in the arse, especially in a progressive press..Bill.

Look at the brass trader thread. It costs about $10-12 to ship and most people want to trade.
