Has anyone compared the cartridge size of the 6.8 SPC to the 270 Winchester cartridge?

With the 6.8 the twist rate in AR's your limited to the lighter bullet weights. My LMT 1:10 16" Carbine likes 110 g VMAX or HPBT & 115 g FMJ . Mickey

The 270 Win is a huge step up from the 6.8 SPC in terms of power, they may share the same bore size but that is the only thing they have in common.

6.8 SPC was specifically designed to preform best in an AR platform with a shorter barrel than typical for hunting rifles. The choice between the two should be based on barrel length, as the .270 would do much better in a full length barrel. So, 18" or less = 6.8 SPC/ 20" or more = .270.
