    I live in Suffolk, NY.

Does anyone know what the process is to obtain a handgun licence, then ultimately a handgun?

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

    Welcome to the forum...

You are looking for either bkt or RL357mag - both of whom, I believe, are familar with the process in the Kommunist State of New York.

I'll be watching very closely as well. From what I've read online...however true it is, Suffolk and Nassau county residents must apply, and pay a yearly $100 liscence fee. Just look up NY State gun laws. But any further real info would be good from members here.

I received my CCW in Dutchess Co. back in the early 90's. It cost me $50 for the application fee, fingerprinting & FBI backround check, and then I waited 3 months. My brother who lives in Westchester Co. ( which is closer to and more in line with Suffolk Co.) attempted to get his CCW several years ago and was told it would be renewable every year. Mine is good for life or until revoked. In Westchester Co. my brother had to jumpt through hoops and provide personal information as well as income verification which he felt was intrusive and a violation of his civil rights - he went to the NRA for help and they referred him to one of their attorney's, who told him that in fact the overly intrusive requirements of Westchester Co. as well as the enormous fee, were in fact a violation of his constitutional rights, but that he could not help him since the case would need to be tried in the Supreme Court of NY State in White Plains, and he did not have Supreme Court experience or privileges. My brother gave up. Also, Westchester Co. has been prosecuting people whoo collect guns for not having an armorers license! This dates back to when that ***** Jeanine Pirro was the DA. It has gotten worse in the ensuing years. My advice to you is the same advice I gave my brother - move upstate, or out of the state!
