What is the going price to cerakote a disassembled 870 shotgun?
Most Cerakoters charge as much as the hard chrome platers. I would have the chrome finish done. It's much more durable.
The individual would like a flat black finish. Some products from Brownells have good review, others are not so good.
Is GunKote a good substitute?
In that case, My suggestion is Ionbond.
Again, around the same price, but a much superior finish. Search "Club Custom Guns."
Last week I dropped a Ruger SBH off to be Coated . It will cost me around $80/$100 bucks .
I have a Ruger SBH in Hard Chrome it is just OK not as nice as I would like .
Doing the next one in Gloss Black ???
About $100 for pistols on up to $200 for some long guns and Two tone finishes. The cost is in the labor for the prep work. Detail strip, clean, degrease, sandblast, degrease again, some will parkerize and then coat and bake, others coat after the sand blasting. Then inspection for runs or flaws and any rework, then lube and reassembly.
A Ruger Super Blackhawk In Hard Chrome
I powder coated mine at home with a harbor freight gun and powder.
I just dropped off a Remington 870 Express 20ga Magnum that I inherited off at a local shop to get Cerakoted in a burnt bronze single color.
They charge $120 for that, and they emailed me a 20% off coupon yesterday,it only cost me $103.91 with the coupon.
I should get it back in about 3 weeks, then I'll post some pics.
