Obama said he wants a plan to end gun violence on the table by the end of January. He said nothing about a gun ban or legislation. We have laws on the books that should be enforced. Some states are not properly reporting people who have been judged mentally incompetent to the NCIS.

Obama knows that a gun ban will kill all the momentum the Democratic party has going right now. Congress is not going to let Obama kill the Democratic party for his own agenda.

Really getting tired of all this panic.

Feinstein's legislation has yet to be introduced. Getting it to pass will be difficult to say the least.

ALL of the current gun control legislation introduced today has been referred to the Republican controlled and pro-gun House Judiciary Committee.

If Obama could get away with an EO, he would have done it already. His chance to do so has passed, making me think they probably didn't see a way to enact anything enforcable.

To be blunt, people need to take a deep breath, relax, and act instead of react. Have you sent letters to your representatives? Do they know where you stand? Are you part of a pro-gun organization? Have you sent money to pro-gun candidates or organizations?

Getting everyone riled up is not constructive, and we need constructive action.

Obama has said a lot of things, but watch out! Every statement he makes has an expiration date. He is the campaigner-in-chief and will always say what he thinks people will want to hear. I thought this would end once he won re-election but he appears to still be stumping. I guess you go with what you know.

IF the VP said that, his mouth is simply writing a check that he can't cash. No way severely restrictive legislation will pass Congress; especially not in 3 weeks. No Republican would vote himself or herself out of office that way, and at least one out of three Democrats would vote against drastic measures.

If the President tried to shove it down the Congress' throat, then you would see the entire Congress, Democrat, Republican and Independant come together to put him back in place. He knows this......

When something happens, and eventually it will, it will have gone through heararing after hearing and will be watered down to the point that it will be symbolic legislation. A reinstatement of the old AWB may well happen, but I don't know a damn soul that did without anything he or she wanted as a result of that ban.

What stories like this do is fatten the bankroll of the NRA and keep the people buying guns and ammo like there were no tomorrow. Someone keeps fanning the blaze and won't let this drop. Now that Illinois has been put to bed, this arises. When this story fades, you can bet your sweet bippie, there will be another one right behind it. You have to wonder who is pulling these strings.

so far, the only effect all this seems to have had is to boost AR15 (and similar) sales and jack the price of .223 ammo....so firearms and ammo manufacturers come out ahead (as well as opportunistic dealers and private sellers).....the only knee-jerk reactions I have seen to date are among fearful, panicky gun owners! Do we screw ourselves on prices because of this hysteria?

I think that ship has sailed when I saw a dozen or more bidders on a SAR-10, and a price over $1100.00, last week on GB. (and the auction wasn't over)

When the ammo counters fill up again, you will see that the prices have risen. They know we are willing to pay high prices, why wouldn't they charge high prices?

The Dems carried on a war which lasted longer than the Civil War. It was 100 years after the CW that they attacked gun owners. The killing of JFK started an anti gun attack never seen in America. The Liberals never stopped it took them 5 years to pass LBJs 1968 Gun Laws. :)

Of all the bills that get through committee and onto the floor of congress only 3% has been made law in the last 4 years. With that kind of odds I will take my chances that there will be no new gun laws.
