Any of you guys reload much for your ARs? I've got a bunch of military brass comin and a gun show to go to for supplies this weekend, I was wondering if anyone has found a powder that seems to be cleaner burning than others?

winchester 748 is my FAVORITE powder for .223. I've gotten loads dialed in to produce sub quarter moa groups in my remmy 700 and also use this powder for my AR. Buy it in 8lb containers and you'll save a TON vs buying by the pound. If your AR is as hungry as mine, you're gonna go through it eventually anyways. Slide fire stocked AR's have a hellacious appetite.

I also want to stick with a ball powder if possible as it flows nicer through my powder measure and I have a lot of shells to load

Over the years I've used W748, IMR4895 and H335 with great success. They all three meter very consistently.

The winchester 748 powder I mentioned is a ball powder and meters VERY well.

I have also read on another forum that the 748 burns cooler extending throat life? I'm not sure if this is fact or not I can't seem to find any real info on it.

I use BL-C(2). It works nicely in my powder measure. I have shot a crap load of it. I have also used Benchmark. But the BL-C(2) works better for me.
I am guilty of puting my AR away dirty on more than one occasion. Never a problem so far.

Hodgdon has a new one called CFE 223. It's designed almost specifically for 223/5.56, and prevents almost all copper fouling in the barrel. Not sure how they do it, but apparently it works really well.

I haven't been able to get my hands on it as it's selling out about as fast as distributors can get it, but if you can find some, I would definitely try it.

My top pick is H-335/WW748. Bl-C 2 is also quite good.

AAC 2230/2230S MilSurp also works quite well, and is often available very economically.

I avoid extruded powder altogether in 5.56 and 7.62. The spherical powders flow much more consistently in my Dillons.
