That’s exactly what it is. An Australian blue tongue skink. I also have an Indonesian blue tongue. I love my huge lizards.

    It’s a salamander.

We used to have salamanders as pets.

I grew up near a lake & never saw a salamander. First time i ever saw one was in junior high in the locker room at the new school i was going to. Slimy ugly bugger was about a foot long. Made me wonder what kind of hell-hole school i was attending.

Baby hawk trying to fly. Could only go a few feet. Had to shoo it off the road. Its parents were watching. Might be a Cooper Hawk. It was small.

Is the canal navigable for narrow boats?

Good question, the people in charge at the time, in their wisdom thought it would be a good idea fill part of it in and to build a motorway over it. So some of it is but most not, a very short sighted decision. :( Maybe some day.

I was sat in my backyard this morning, watching the trains go round, when this caught my eye in the clear blue sky - at around 35000ft - I reckon. The sky was just soooooooooo blue that I couldn't resist...

Got my flashlight in from amazon 2 days ago, fired a few rounds that night around 10-11pm to see how it holds up and the light does stay on while shooting. And fired some more with the light off the next day and again, flashlight holds up, so all good.

I also bought a belt clip holster off ebay, ended up returning it because the description said it is for Glocks 17 - 36 but did not say what gen It was for and so I assumed it was for a gen 4. So.. it indeed did not fit, was very loose on the slide and did not fit on the frame. Not enough clearance between the left (big opening) of the rear cover plate and the ejector. So its probably for a gen 3 is my guess. So not only did I wait a week to get it, waited another week to return it and get refunded. Bought a different one off amazon. This one is a Gen 1 - 4, models 17 - 36. Waited a another week, got it in yesterday evening. Same thing, did not fit again. It was a solid fit on the slide, but again won't fit on the frame when you go put the slide back on because there's not enough clearence where the ejector is.

So in a nutsell, didnt wanna play games with returning it back and fourth because it looks like these sellers selling these have never installed one themselves. And its very likely they are going to send me another wrong one again, and not to mention these belt clips are $20 each lol, I'm not made of money to play games with sending it back and fourth because they keep getting it wrong lmao.

So I decided to just keep it but I had to heavily modify it for it to work. I spent almost 2 hours yesterday evening filing off the corner of the rear cover plate so that there's enough clearance and sure enough it worked!

Function tested the crap out of the gun to make sure everything's good. Ran snap caps through it too. And took it apart and put it back together 5 or 6 times to make sure everything's still the same.

I ran 20 rounds yesterday evening and it ran flawlessly so I did a good job. :D

All in all I'm very happy! :p

Here's a pic of my glock with the new light:

Here it is again with the belt clip:

    20200603_082455.jpg

2 pics of the corner that had to be filed for it to fit on the frame:

    20200603_083712.jpg

    20200603_083739.jpg

Not hard to do, just took time but it runs so I'm happy! :D

The thing is holsters for pistols with lights or lasers can go between $50 - $100. Without the light, I can just use my kydex, with the light its either a belt clip holster for $20 with some modifying (if needed) that anyone can do as long as they have a very good understanding of how their handgun is put together, mine's a glock so its not rocket science lol. Or I put $50 - $80 and get a holster for it.

I like the first option lol, keep the rest of the money for ammo. :D

For those of you who know the PNW, this is a view looking NNE from our deck, a few miles SW of Eugene. The teeny pink blob in the centre is Three-Fingered Jack, lit up pink in the sunset...

I love when stuff like this happens, mama deer with two of last years fawns came strolling right by about 15 feet from me. They never caught my scent so I was able to sit still and watch them for about 5 minutes. After that they just wandered off, never knowing I was there 20200607_095331.jpeg 20200607_095321.jpeg 20200607_095316.jpeg 20200607_095255.jpeg

Decided to give the A5 a hunt, wish the squirrels were out like they were yesterday.

Random thought: Why does no company make a toad colored camouflage, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Random thought #2: there is something very primal about the quick heart rate increase when you see a snake, I guess its thousands of years of evolution that impregnated us to fear them. 20200607_123119.jpeg 20200607_133603.jpeg 20200607_121639.jpeg

I've only shot two so far this weekend and neither have had any kind of parasites inside that I could see. The gun is a browning auto 5 16 gauge

Nice! But now that you've mentioned you didnt find any. I'm so tempted to grab my .22 and go out and do some squirrel hunting myself. I wanna take the 12G but I think that may be overkill lol.
