I give up, what's wrong in the picture?
Well that'll piss some people off
This is the exhaust rocker adjustment screw for cylinder 5
This is the exhaust rocker adjustment screw for cylinder 4
The amount of threads above the jam nut should be approximately the same. They aren't, cylinder 5 is out of adjustment, the issue is internal to the rocker arm, causes a tick, this engine sounded like a typewriter.
Ah gotcha. So the same basic deal as adjusting the valves on my CB750, just on a MUCH larger scale.
What year cb750 do have? I have a '78.
You'd go bat**** crazy then with an old Holden from about 1948 up to about 1956 or so with the 214ci 6cylinder engine.
You could adjust the valves to the correct setting and you would still get a bit of a ticking sound. Didn't matter what you did that was just the way the old engine was but it ran like train and gave good mpg's as well.
The later V8's (253 and 308ci) had non adjustable rockers and sometimes we had to take off the rocker bridge mounts and get them machined flat and that would cure the problem as well.
Another problem that cropped up on both the Holdens and Fords more so the V8's was the factory camshafts that would flog the lobes of the shaft and give you that ticking sound that could be fixed by replacing the camshaft and lifters.
Our CNG have a lot of valve train noise, I think it's due to the fact that the engines actually run really quiet so you can hear all of it. If it's normal it's normal, this was not normal.
Mine is also a '78.
Nothing tests your patients more than fishing with a 5 year old
Because she catches more than you?
Finally getting my garage and tools organized.
Look! A dinosaur.
Got this for our son the other day. It's advertised as a "bubble leaf blower" but since the bubble wands rotate, i can't help but feel a bit like Arnold holding the Minigun in Terminator 2.
Did you ever eat at the Pisqah Inn overlooking the Mountains there?
And talk about switchbacks getting there! OH WOW!
That looks like 1 of our Blue Tongue lizards.
Ate there once. I spent the night in the lodge way back in mid 80s. All other times I was camping.
I've also stayed at Big Meadow's in Shenandoah Park.
Sunset this evening
A little guy I found in my driveway. I can't remember what they are called, but they move in slow motion. Yes, that's dog hair stuck to him, like everything else in or near my house.
