BELVIDERE | A Blairstown Township man charged with unlawful possession of 28 guns, including assault rifles, was arraigned Monday in state Superior Court.

Paul E. Waller, of Cedar Lake Road, is charged with possessing weapons ranging from a BB gun to assault rifles.

Authorities aren't releasing details about the circumstances of Waller's arrest Friday or why he allegedly owned so many weapons.

A New Jersey State Police spokesman said the case remains under investigation and declined further comment.

Waller is charged with three complaints of failing to register assault weapons, according to court records.

He is also charged with illegal possession of an MAK-90 7.62-caliber assault firearm and a Russian-made SKS-45 assault firearm.

The other charges include illegal possession of two double-barreled shotguns, two 12-gauge shotguns and a Browning rifle.

Waller did not return a message left with a woman who answered the phone at his home Monday.

Well, the subjects of New Jersey can sleep easy tonight....

Chances are pretty good both of these were semis (and thus not assault weapons). Whether or not the owner had legal magazines is another issue, and they could nail him on that.

Just our of curiosity, is there an integer value greater than 0 that is an acceptable number of firearms to own in NJ?

I would be interested to know what constitutes the phrase "unlawful possession of" - Does that mean they were cut down ( stocks or barrels ), or modified, or was it that he was a convicted felon and wasn't allowed to have the weapons in the first place?

Don't laugh, carrying a slingshot is a FELONY in Massachusetts, it's probably just as illegal in N.J. too.
After all, MA and N.J. are in competition for who can pass the most draconian laws.........

Oh, no. Do not cross into New Joisey with ANY firearm in your vehicle. In fact, I will not set foot in Jersey for fear I might accidentally spend one red cent in that Hell hole. Hollow point pistol ammo is banned there. WTF?
