I could understand how he shot himself if in a struggle. Police chief? Why does he even need a round in the chamber? All I can come up with is he does not trust his officers.

Because of the myth that a Glock is perfectly safe to carry with a round in the chamber with all its safeties ,and that's the only way to carry it. That doesn't take into account that it will be carried by human beings, and they make mistakes are negligent whatever you want to call it. As for the ones that think it would never happen to them I hope not , but if they think they are that perfect that it couldn't happen to them they are kidding themselves.

Really? Seems to happen a lot with that trigger "safety" perhaps there should be a test of some sort? Glock and safety is an oxymoron! "Glock Leg" is now part of our vocabulary, why because this keeps happening!
When that thing "in between your head" skips a beat we are all in danger!
Who in their right minds puts a safety on the freaking trigger?
Even fan boys acknowledges its not a safety!
Not only are they ugly they are far more dangerous than most newbies should be trusted with.
I have a few negative experiences with Glock owners when they had "negligent discharges" Read my fucng finger was on the trigger! Well no sh!t!
Bottom line I do not ever trust Glock owners!

There's a problem, call it the x factor.

Perhaps the glock, in itself, is

    properly safetied, but people

    don't handle the design well...

This guy was a police chief. If he

couldn't handle it, who are we, to

assume, in our arrogance, WE can ?

Was he questioned by police at the hospital? Was the shooting immediately reported to police by responding medical staff? Humm? I just wonder do Police Chiefs get treated like the rest of us?:)
