I started with a standard blued 10/22 with the Birch stock. I found a Nikon 3-9x40 Pro-Staff scope in Realtree camo on sale and bought and mounted it. It looked weird on there. I then found a factory Ruger synthetic stock in Realtree camo and swapped that out. So then, I had a bued/camo'd 10/22. I kept telling myself that it didn't matter because it's just a plinker, but it kind of bothered me. So, I disassembled it all and stripped all the blueing off. Then I sanded and primed all the metal and then painted it with Rustoleum Camouflage, ultra flat Army Green. It was a PITA to get it really clean and even, but eventually, it came out to my satisfaction. So far, the paint is holding up well, but I sanded, primed and prepped the heck out of the metal. It may not be everybody's taste, but I'm really happy with the results.
