 Ok, my girlfriend's birthday is coming up and i'm short for $$, she loves pink, pink knives, guns, everything, but she don't own a gun yet herself and wants one so I look a .22 rifle that I bought 3 years ago at Walmart(barely 200 rounds through it), slapped a few coats of Rustoleum paint for plastic(add a lot of elbow grease), and a pink camo gun case, and I got a decent gift that I barely put $30 in to. What do you think?

    Ninja,

Looks like you did a fantastic job on the rifle. Looks like it came that way!
They also have that clear plastic coat also if needed to increase durability! Who would have known if you had not explained everything!
And besides, that should earn you some valuable points with the wife!
    Good Job!:)

Thanks guys, I didn't think it looked that great until you guys said so, I thought it was average, I never painted a gun before. It took a good 3 coats and a lot of rubbing compound, the last coat is only been on for 4 days so it does need to cure a bit yet before I give it to her.

I have looked at the pink rifles before.
I would never guess this did not come like this from the factory.

The case is a GREAT touch!

Does anyone here do the paracord slings?
One of those in pink would really top this off -

    It looks good.

There are two things that cannot be stressed enough when painting.
    Preparation and Patience.

The first will determine how the finished product will look.
The second helps to keep runs and fingerprints off.

The way I normally paint (after preparation) is:
    1. Mist the object with very little paint, wait for at least 15 minutes. This does not have to put a complete coat on, just a misting of paint.
    2. First coat, in a thin spraying. I don't care if I miss a spot. If you try to correct the spot you missed, you will apply too much. Allow to dry to touch.
    3. Second coat, cover spots I missed and lightly blend the rest. Again if I miss a spot, I will not try to correct it at this time. Allow to dry to touch.
    4. Third coat, see step 3.

Now, you are probably asking "How will I know it will be dry to the touch?"
Easy, spray another object the same as your primary. Touch the secondary object when you are curious if it is dry or not.

It's a savage that was Walmart-ized, made without the accu-trigger.

That is a wonderful gift. She is going to LOVE it. You are a very thoughtful boyfriend. I have a pink rifle and I have that very same exact case.

You did an excellent job painting that rifle. It's PERFECT. Take a video of her seeing it for the first time. You're awesome!!!

    My advice for you:

Don't tell her that you bought it a while ago and you put barely $30 into it.

Tell her that its a custom colored gun; 1 of a kind.

You will notice a difference in the enthusiasm with which she thanks you.
