For the detective special?
I have a Pachmayr on a Colt DA revolver, and Hogue on all my Smiths. I prefer the look and feel of cotton, I mean Hogue!
I go with Hogue, for I like the feel of the grip it gives you.
Definitely Hogue, it's what I have on my S&W model 60.
My first thought was hogue but one of the reviews stated they only properly fit on Dxxxxxx serial numbered guns mine is an Hxxxxxx.
The pachmayr actually stated post 71 models (mine is mid 70s) so That's what I grabbed before I got any responses.
If anyone knows the hogue fits I'll order that too and compare.
I've had a long-standing love affair with Pachy grips...
back in the 80's I switched my duty .357 from OEM wood to Pachy's rubber...
never looked back, never wanted wood on a .357 or .44 after that
Only thing that I considerbetween Pachy & Houge is what's in stock/available and price...
they both feel pert near the same...which is to say, better than wood
Both have been good to me. It seems the Hogue are usually a little bigger out of the two.
Its a personal thing. Both are cheap so pick the one you like and give it a try. I tend to dump pachmayrs for hogues. but that's just me.
