I'm no gunsmith by far, but I have a gun that can't get any worse!

I have an Arminius HW3 7shot revolver 32S&W. It's missing the emblem on the side of the frame, and the plastic handle is in crappy shape. The blue is terrible, and looks like a home job gone wrong.

I want to make a set of grips that fit my hand better, and look at refinishing the gun. What are the options on refinishing? How hard is it really? Like i said the gun isn't gonna get worse, I do believe it was another one of my grandfathers payments for a gambling debt, or one he got in a game of pool. Lots of my inherited firearms are the same case, but none in that bad a shape! It really is a nice firing revolver, smooth action, and perfect fit in my pocket, or boot. I just wish it were more appealing to the eye.

Here's what it looks like. I don't have a pic of mine handy.

If you take your time and follow direction bluing with Brownells Oxpho blue is not that hard. I am currently working on an old mossberg 46b(B) next up is my Remington M30 express It is going to get stripped and reblued by me with cold blue.

The best way I have foudn to remove old blue is to get a bucket and put your gun (Disassembled in the bottom) and pour straight white viniger over it and pour till it is 2 to 3" above the highest part of the gun. let it soak for a day then get it out and clean it and degrease it then start your bluing.

Head over to Rimfire central.com for some good tips in the mossberg section.

I have some Oxpho blue and 44/40 blue on the way in from Brownells. My old PPK is in need of some finish work so I thought I'd give this stuff a go. While I have no problems paying to get quality work done - it's just so much fun to try to do it yourself...

If the Oxy does not work let me know that is what I do for a living, $85 plus shipping for a Professional Hot Bluing Job. Mark
