Could the forum offer a way for members to show on their badges if they welcome any and all douchebaggery, asshattery, verbal sparring vs being a member that prefers the forum operated like a library?

Maybe on a scale of 1 to 10.

1 = quiet please, members are studying for the bar exam.

10 = yeehaww, let the good times roll, show me what you got!

    Just a thought?

How's bout a sense of humour that will offend, upset and really piss off snowflakes, hand wringing denialists and the eternally offended?

Also a belief that Monty Python has the answers to everything in life?:D

Who the hell do you think you are? You Alex Jones types are all the same. Just eager to get under peoples skins. Just for fun? I bet you beat your dog. I would've said wife but you are unloveable by any human intelligent enough to not need Joe Bidens drool cup.

    I am a 10, bring it.

Oh, darn. I hope you are a 10 as well. Otherwise. I will be the a$$h0L3

On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate that scale at least a 8.

Scale of 1-10, I range from 5.56 to 7.62, and am pretty happy at 6.8

I'd much prefer it be on the members, individually to determine what their level of participation, engagement and tolerance is.

"Conduct unbecoming" (on a forum) can always get reported to the moderating staff, and if appropriate then it can get dealt with accordingly.

The "ignore" feature works fine, for members who decide that a given participant's posts aren't worth knowing seeing.

And, overall, in the arms-specific sub-forum areas, there tends to be little of the "sparring" type posting, which certainly regularly occurs in the 2A/RKBA and "Club House" areas.

As for the "spicier" end of the scale (aka, the "douchebaggery" type stuff), it's not as though some flag or indicator on a member's account is going to keep such a person from posting a certain way, no more than the signature-line entries do. And, the siggy-line can be used right now, for such a function, even without worrying over the software's ability or inability to do some special flagging.

Member self-policing; <report post> moderator involvement, where necessary; and the <ignore> feature. Should work just fine.
