Does anyone know or can anyone give me any info on opening up a gun store. I also own a machine shop where I can manufacture guns and ammo as well. Looking to know the steps need. If there are special requirements that I have to meet and and estimation on what it would cost to open a store front

If you are going to be a manufacturer you will need an 07 FFL. 06 for ammunition manufacturing. ITAR tax will be required after I think 50 units. Im only an 01 FFL so dont take any of that for fact. Getting set up is a little time consuming more than anything else. I doubt you will have any zoning issues if you are already in a machine shop but its still worth looking into, that is the one thing that stops more FFL's from starting up than anything else.
As was suggested above read all the information you can on the ATF website. Its all there.

Except for one little tidbit....

If a little old lady comes in and wants a .45, don't convince her to get a more "womanly" caliber.

You can only buy insurance if you can convince someone you will never use it. They ascertain that by looking at your background, and looking at the risk of the insurance type. If you have an A rating (good) on home, cars, life, it should be no problem expanding your agents portfolio for a store front gun retail shop. Insurance on making guns? That will be more targeted (pun) towards a specialized insurance broker.
