If you have an automatic garage door opener:

Got this from a friend, plus a solution.

The easy fix is a zip-tie so it can not be opened from the outside.

The purpose of the manual release is should you have a power failure and need to open your garage door, you pull the release. The zip-tie keeps it from being easy from the outside, but one snip of the zip-tie from the inside and it opens just like before.

Amazing what you find on the Internet. -

I will have to check our door. I actually had a neighbor who came over during a power failure to see if I could go pick her kid up at school. She said that she cound't get her car out of the garage because of the power failure. I went over there and showed her how to open the door.

Our garage is separate from the house- but- when going away for extended time, pull the breaker for the door opener, and with the door closed, snap a padlock thru a hole in the door track just above one of the rollers.

PULL THE BREAKER- because when you return you will be brain dead, and forget about the padlock.

That would be pretty hard to do if the door did not have a window in it.

Doc, you mean you have to go underground to get to your garage? Maybe thats how you got the cellulitis in your knee!

    no garage here :(

No window in the door and a big mean ass dog on the other side will put an end to all that.

True, but do you want to air-condition the garage to keep the dog healthy?
