Here is a video by Jerry Miculek. It is long video explaining what you need to do to control your firearm, maintenance issues and some of the advantages of open and concealed carry.

    John,

Thank You! A very good presentation by Jerry as always! And a common sense approach to carry!

So what you are saying is that you would feel safe knowing that a total stranger is carrying there weapon around you if you are not armed? You do not know this person's mental stability at all and you would still feel safe?

I have nothing against OC, just feel it is not always wise to do so.

I am beginning to wonder if you are a plant from MDA. We don't need cowboys. All the businesses that are rejecting OC like starbucks are a strong indication that OC is as acceptable as a fart in church.

One other thing I have noticed is people who OC in places that it is not normal to OC have a chip on their shoulder. I had a douche bag at Acedemy in Atlanta who was OC ask me WTF I was looking at. I never made eye contact or said a word to this guy. Other people who were OC in unusual place I walk up to them smiling and they scowl. I say hello and they just give me a dirty look. Maybe because I am 6'4" 260 lb intimidates them. Honestly, I have only met one guy that was OC that was pretty cool. He was on a bike and preferred the retention of duty holster.

Anti gun people read these forums. They copy and paste our words in their literature. Think about what you are typing.

    John,

I agree with you 100%! Like the idiots that walked into the Chapotle Resteraunt recently with their long guns on their sholders. Forcing Chapolte to take a stand and make a statement! I do not hold that against them! Certainly those idiots did not do anything in the interest of our Second Amendment Right cause. And as Jerry's video advised open carry open comes with it's own set of responsibilities and issues. First of all, "not all" dirt bags and aggresors are in the least fearful of attacking anyone with a gun. I remember years ago when the FBI announced who they were most put down their weapons! But those days are over! And in the case of advertising you are armed you are the first target. Simply walk up behind the person displaying the weapon and shoot them them in the head when they least expect it and are unaware of a threat! Simple as that! I agree with the constitutional right to open carry but common sense plays an important roll in what, how and when we do something. I would rather them not know and make them the victim of their stupidity speaking of the aggressor or dirt bag. It's call it lets play a game "Called I WIN"! ;) The dirt bag will have three or four holes in him in most cases before he realizes I am armed!

Just highlighting some keywords here. This is yet another great video by jerry. It's hard to argue common sense with some people though. There are those who do so in a safe and respectable manner, and there are those who sadly don't. There is a time and place for everything, and some folks don't have the ability to differentiate between the two and it gives us all a bad name.

I'm not sure that open carry makes you safer. Right now, I'm wearing a $20 Timex that is the most valuable thing I have on me. However, if I was openly carrying a $700-$800 firearm and went out amongst the unwashed masses, I'm sure some of them might think I'd be worth clobbering or shooting outright.

Have to agree with you there Fernando. Some folks need to learn to act their age, others need to learn not to.
