Ok I am already looking to replace my current EDC knife. I have heard this knife mentioned before and I want owners opinions. The wife and I love the look and specs on the knife and your opinion is greatly appreciated

I own an Ontario rat 1 and it is easily one of my favorite folders... The blade takes a wicked sharp edge. I made a project out of texturing the grips to add traction, which turned out a bit unattractive but very functional. Locks up strong and slices well... For the cheap prices you can score this knife for online I say buy two!

I just won a utilitac II and 6 other knives from a youtube contest .

The utilitac II is also made by ontario. You might want to give it a look as well. Ontario makes excellent knives. I also have a 1-18 sawback machete made by ontario 24" slab of 1095 for 20 bucks. whats better than that.

The RAT 1 is a favorite among lower end working man blades the utilitac II is trying to take that title and just may do it. You get a well built knife when you buy ontario

Here is the Rat 1 just above a utilitac II http://i799.photobucket.com/albums/yy277/JNieporteBF/DSCF0001-2.jpg

Correction.. the utilitac is an additional design in Ontario's portfolio. In fact, if my memory serves, the utilitac knives were designed by Joe Pardue, son of legend Mel Pardue...

You are correct. It is joe pardue design. So you could call it a production custom if that makes any sense lol
