You may remember us. We're Floridians. We live in the state famous for hanging chads, Casey Anthony, post-acquittal OJ, and Trayvon Martin. Well, it looks like we are about to get more headlines. It seems a Florida Gators football player, line backer Antonio Morrison, was arrested for the second time in only five weeks. So what was he arrested for?

    Barking at a police dog

Being from this fine example of continuing education Mr Morrison apparently decided he would be teased unmercifully, so he later added resisting arrest to the charges. I would bet his scholarship is not academic.

Barking at a police dog? You gotta be kidding me. I hope they don't call in a special prosecutor.

Florida isn't known for recruiting the best and brightest. :p
    Disclaimer: I'm a UGA grad, so I'm biased. :D

Hey, we are talking UF football here. If he was recruited by Urban Meyer, he probably showed up for his recruiring visit with his posse. him, his agent, his athletic trainer, his bail bndsman, his babt mama, and his attorney.

With the kind of athletes we have today I can understand his being arrested. There is no way one of these football players should try to communicate with a well trained dog.

I agree that a large portion of collegiate athletes are about junior high academic level at best, which is a shame and speaks volumes about our susceptibility to sports marketing. I tend to go with buckhuntr on the Fla. thing, I went to UGA myself,, when Vince Dooley was coaching,, I did not graduate though,, could not afford the cover charge so I went into the U.S.M.C.,,, Go Dogs and a shout out to our Devil Dogs.

We need some preliminary info before this gets to trial, so we know which side the media wants us on.

    What color is the dog?

    What color is Morrison?

If Obama had a dog would it look like Morrison?

Was the dog profiling, following too close, and prompt a barking backlash?

Is the dog in any way related to UGA the bulldog?

Competitive college football is about football, not higher education. Many competitive athletics could not read a comic book without a tutor. We accept that the college programs are just a distillation process for the pros. It is nothing unique to Florida football. It wasn't long ago that the Florida State players were referred to as the Criminoles. The top players have been pampered since at least junior high school and feel they are entitled to privileges not available to the masses, and most of the time, they are correct in that notion.
