Being a California resident, I know the struggles you guys are going through right now.

I have a 10 round 1911 magazine that a NY buyer is interested in. As I understand, the SAFE Act has been modified so that 10 round magazine possession is legal, but you can only load it with 7 rounds outside of a range or competition.

Does this mean I can sell the magazine to the person in New York? I'm assuming the law doesn't distinguish between buying the magazine in-state or out-of-state.

I'd like to help a brother out if possible. We're all in this together.

careful...10 round mags that you possess prior to SAFE being effective may be kept and loaded to 7, new mags? Be absolutely sure that you and the buyer are within the law.

I think it's legal since they lifted the ban because the gun shops in New York where I live started selling them again

So you can have ten round mags with at most, seven rounds in them. No confusion there.

You all will be much safer once that the criminals and crazies find out they are limited to 7rnds.

So not so much a physical limit, as a mental limit.

Like seeing a speed limit sign saying 35, but you know, it really means 30.

    jc89,

Only an opinion! For the profit you could possibly make for the sale of one magazine. Why bother, take the risk, or even worry about it. Anyone will buy a good 1911 Magazine? And how do you know who this guy is? Could be a Banger! ;)

And man do I like the picture of the guy in MisterMcCool's Post. They should all wear them in NY.

Folks, the rule is clear as odd as it sounds, and is as stated above. In fact the police arrested a guy last week who had his gun on his seat for having nine rounds in the 10-rnd magazine. The DA refused to prosecute him and it's been dismissed.
