i picked up my case length gauge from lee about 6 years ago(when i bought the dies)...its kinda odd lee doesnt list these anymore..?.....have you been loading for the 8x56r long?i have reused the brass i have for all three of my rifles chambered in the 8x56r about 6 times...and not one time (yet) have i had to trim brass using case length gauge.(not full power loads)..but it is a good tool to have in your arsenal

Haha. "Not full power loads". No kidding!

Full loads SUCK in my M95. Guys complain about the recoil of the No5Mk1 Jungle Carbines. I tell them to try a M95, and quit whining about the No5JC.

Woosies! I fire nothing but full power loads.:p

10 Mosin Nagants got me used to massive recoil.

Of course, I also have the slip on recoil pad.....

I got a couple hundred pieces of brass from Graf And Sons when I started. As a matter of fact, think I had the brass before I received the rifle. Means Gertrude has never fired any nasty corrosive stuff since I got her. I have only about 2-3 reloads on the brass, so I was thinking it may be time to start worrying about it getting longer and needing trimming.

Wait! You have a slip on recoil pad and are calling US woosies?! Haha.

Mine still sports the spiked, hobnailed, serrated, red hot flaming steel buttplate.

Maybe it is the old Nazi ammo that is so hot? Because my Moisin Nagant M38 is nowhere near the recoil of the M95. Even with Heavy Ball.

mosin m44's and m38's have about the same recoil as a 12gauge using birdshot...

my m95 stutzen's and steyr m95/34 to me have the same recoil as a 10gauge using 00buck.using the nazi marked ammo..im not big but im not scronnie 5'10 205lbs...after about 10rds of this ammo...it will leave a lil bruise on my shoulder.this is why i only use pet loads when reloading for this cal...if any rifle ever designed needed a recoil pad it shouldve been the m95:D

I was just looking through the Midway catalog and they list 31 different calibers that are listed as "Midway Exclusives". So I think my guess that Midway had a bunch made up just for them was correct.

    steyr m95s and recoil

    gangdog and m14rock,
i'm man enough to admit i'm a wimp! :D i shoot lee's 205 grain gc cast bullet at 1800 fps from my 8x56r because i prefer my retinas attached to the back of my eyeballs where they belong.

my mosins like cast bullets too! :)

Wimp! Attached retinas are over rated.

The M95 may kick, but the M95M chambered in 8mm Mauser KICKS!! Wish mine hadn't been stolen.......

Got the regular M95 now, and hopefully will test my handloads this weekend.
I don't have the case length gauge for this caliber yet though. Have to measure and trim the old fashioned way if I need to. ;)
