OK, here's the deal. Went out to the range last weekend with my LR308 and my coworker who is a pro reloader. I'm still working to dial in my LR and he is helping. We shot several different types and brands of ammo looking for the best group. Most were pretty similar in their POI at 100 yards. Until we got to his hand loads. They consistently shot 6 inches higher at 100 yards. I thought they must be moving quite a bit faster, but we ran both the hand loads and factory stuff over the chrony and the hand loads were 180 fps slower than the factory loads. The hand loads were using a 178 gr tipped triple shock vs. the 175 gr fmj or 168 gr jhpbt bullets of the factory ammo. So, we are completely perplexed at this point and looking for any insight that you guys might have on this situation.
