Going against my usual and doing something totally different . Every one of my black rifles are well, black . Going to build a 5.45x39 rifle. I found cases of 2160 rd for $375 locally and im thinking I can build this for about $450 with all the crazy deals going on and my dealer has a box full of 5.45 barrels in the white that got mis-shipped so he got them really cheap.

    Can you build a 5.45 on a 5.56 lower?

What're you kidding? I read the above as "complete gun & 2160 rounds of ammo for $825." IMHO, OD would have to be right after matte black, along with FDE.

How about a parts list, with suppliers, when you get to it?

Yes , my dealer has a complete spikes in 5.45 sitting on the shelf , nothing special about it , its sitting on a standard spikes lower, I believe I will have to use standard GI mags though

    Wow, $90 for a barrel?

    Nice!

Will standard mags work for that round? Thought you had to use 5.45 specific mags which are expensive and hard to find......

If i had access to those prices on the barrel and ammo, i'd be all over it.....

Also how are you getting a bolt turned? You doing the work yourself?

I believe I can use GI mags and those will work from what I have read , P mags are out , not enough length for the round . The bolt we will be taking just a hair out of to make work . Keep up on this thread .. Heres a tad more porn for ya Tikki

No Sh!t, it's an actual stamp!? I always wondered. What's it for? Also, top photo, middle lower, I like the color.

Yup its a actual stamp . This one is set up for a 11.5" upper that I already had but since I have 2 of the same barreled uppers , I'm going to off one . Its going to wear a 9" 7.62x39 replacement

How long did it take you for the stamp? I've got a couple lowers I want to register. Last time I did one it only took 29 days. I doubt that's the case now.

Wait, what? Are we talking NFA here? You can't be in possession of it and NOT have the stamp, no? What kind of lowers? If not an NFA item, this stamp doesn't apply. Maybe I'm slightly confused…..

Were already NFA owners so it doesn't matter how many shorty uppers we have so long as we don't put them on a non NFA lower with a stock . For a first timer applying, possession is a no no.
Just because its stamped as a 11.5" doesn't mean it has to stay that way . You can run a 5" or a 20" does not matter. Once a NFA always a NFA unless you call and have them release it

You can have in your possession a short barreled upper as long as you put it on a ar pistol lower and not an ar rifle lower.

You have to get a stamp if you are going to go short barrel rifle. But you can go ar pistol without the stamp but you better not put a pistol length upper on a rifle lower without the stamp.

Oh, I see, you're going to register the lowers to make them SBRs.
