Has anyone here ever applied for a NY State non-resident carry permit? I live in PA and like to vacation in upstate NY and would like a NY carry permit. I was wondering if it is difficult to get and can you get one through the mail or must you apply in person? Any input would be appreciated.

It doesn't exist,NY has no reciprocity with any other states
If you want protection in new york you have to be a rich liberal so you can hire body guards.

I didn't ask about reciprocity with PA. I asked about getting a non-resident carry permit from the state of NY.

This page talks abour NY State non resident pistol permits.
Ok , so where does it speak on that page about a non resident permit? New York state does not give non resident permit out it does not exist
^that, and you'll need a permit for every county line you intend to cross as a resident.

After reading it again it sounds like you have to own a business or have an FFL. Sounds like you can't just get one for personal protection.
Okay! You have my interest. I am an FFL and how would I go about obtaining an out of state permit if I wanted to come to NY and carry? I just might want to pull this off! Any suggestions/help appreciated.
Good luck, you'll need a real good attorney and lots of time and money. The end result will be the same.I'm an FFL in NY state for 20 yrs.I've had a carry permit for almost 27 years.I know of no one given a non resident carry permit, other than a Leo.
New York does not issue non resident pistol permits. I've never seen anything in NY penal law that prohibits it, but there is no provision in the application process for a non resident to apply. In NY, to apply for a pistol permit, one must meet the requirements at the state and county level. Every county has a requirement that one must have been a resident of that particular county for X amount of time (usually six months to a year) to meet the application requirements. That right there eliminates non residents from applying. Some counties (read very few if any these days) will allow persons who received their licenses as NY residents retain them with a change of address when they move out of state. With the new law(s) here in NY that will require permit renewals every five years, I believe these will become even rarer than they are now.

Incorrect... NY state pistol permits are issued at the county level but are valid statewide except for the five boroughs of NYC.
Well well well! It is getting interesting. I am an attorney licensed in TX and I have never even thought of becoming licensed elsewhere. I wonder how the reception would be to an out of state attorney that wanted an out of state permit/license to carry in NY? Sometime this next week I will pull the NY statutes governing their permits and see what I can dig up. Will also look at some case law just to see what the stance has been and what reasoning they used. This really may get interesting. Thanks for the info and I will post back what I find.
Please do... You'd likely be interested in starting with NY penal law article 400.00
best suggestion is to stay away from NY the communist state of......... I've had a CCW for 32 years and now facing the option of felony charges if I do not comply with the "SAFE" act. Don't come here, don't spend any money here, don't stay at NY hotels, eat at restaurants, buy gas, etc.
Vacation in Vermont instead, then you don't need to worry about a permit! :D

The "Safe Act" is a joke...
The "Safe Act" is a joke...
Its no joke its a real breach of civil rights. No different than that upstanding democrat bull conner trying to beat back equality for blacks
