I am an annual NRA member. Do I automatically have insurance for my guns, or do I have to fill out some form and pay extra?

I believe you get like $1500 coverage automatically and can pay in to increase it. This is off the top of my head though, so I may be off a bit. I would recommend checking the NRA site or contacting them.

I don't know if it is automatic, or not. Seems I got a form I was asked to fill out if I wanted it, even though it was free, but had to state if I wanted additional insurance. It's been a while so probably best to email or write them.

I have considered joining for a long time.

What are the benefits of joining the NRA?

Helping to support the second amendment. Insurance for yourself and your firearms. Discounts on training. Having lawyers at your disposal. Need I go on?

Thanks guys. I checked it out through their web site. They do offer the free insurance, but you have to activate it. So, I activated it. It is $2,500 for your guns and then you have the option to purchase additional insurance. You also have $5000 like ins. on yourself if you are killed in any kind of an accident.

I must be the only one who thinks the American Rifleman is a pretty decent magazine.

    You should have a form

Not to mention the magazine subscription and some kind of free gift such as a range bag.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

NRA Law Enforcement Officer Felonious Death Benefits

A $25,000.00 insurance benefit to the widow or survivors of any NRA-member law enforcement officer who is killed in the line of duty. Coverage is automatic for all law enforcement officers who are NRA members.

There is also a $1,000/ yr scholarship available for the child of a LEO that is killed in the line of duty.

Please make a note of that, and put it with your important papers (like your will)

May you live long and prosper- but your family needs to know about that.
