Hey guys. Bought a budget scope for my 10/22. Anyone else have this setup? Did you install the rings on the Weaver or Dovetail mount? Reason I'm asking, I THOUGHT the scope can with Weaver, however, when installed it seems to not be installed correctly, like there is very little bite. If I install on the bottom Dovetail, it seems spread very far apart... Is this normal? Here's a few pics:

It just doesn't seem right to me. My optics mounts on my AR are way more secure and look nothing like this. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried flipping the clamp bar? That could help some.

I bought a cheap, "universal" Weaver adapter for an older .22 a couple of years ago & saw the same type of thing. Even though it was supposed to fit 3/8" & 11mm dovetails, it really fit poorly on my gun. The problem is that not only is the width of the dovetail different, so is the angle. The clamp bar had both angles cut into it, but that didn't help on the fixed side. In the end, it was just a poorly-engineered and/or poorly machined throw-away. :(

Grab a Micrometer and measure the rail...I'm betting you've either got an out-of-spec one, or the wrong size rail in the package...it happens...

might also be out-of spec rings/wrong size for the rail...

Micrometer solves a LOT of equations!! Tells you real fast what's right or what's measuring odd...
its a required tool in a motorcyclist or gunsmith's toolbox..only about $10 at Harbor Freight Tools ;)

Alright, it seems the factory rail was out of specs. I went to Walmart and bought some new rings and rail mounts. Everything went on great. Not the highest quality ring mounts. However, I use blue locktite on everything, so I'm really not worried about it on a rimfire. Here's how it looks:

I have the same scope I used the mounts for my pellet rifle (dove tail) I used weaver mounts for the new scope rings, I have it on my savage 17hmr. The scope holds it's zero for my rifle but the scope mounts on my pellet rifle hold up pretty well, I had to tighten the damn things down I thought I was going to break the the screws. But it doesn't move any more almost thought about just welding the mounts to my rifle.
