The latest addition to the family has been delivered. Aluminium bobtail frame frame, spalted maple grips, crowned 4.25" barrel, shortened slide stop, Heinie sights, Nighthawk quality. This is 45 ACP porn!

That's an excellent choice. We used to have one in 9mm for the lady before the FTF boating accident. :(

That thing shot the daylights out of everything we fed it. Smooth, reliable and accurate as can be.

Did you order up the extra mags thru Nighthawk as well? I would highly recommend them.

Looking forward to your maiden range trip.

This may sound ridiculous, but what is the purpose of the bobtail? Does it provide function or aid in anything?

Don't get me wrong, that is a beautiful Pistol.
I just don't like the look of the bobtail. Looks like something is missing.

I also don't like the look of serrations on the front of the slide on 1911's. Just me.

I believe the bobtail is for easier concealment. Usually, it's the corner of the gun that prints.

If you have the Magazine in does it stick out, since it is not bobtailed?

Nope, only the mainspring housing is bobtailed.

In General, that is why I said 1911's.

I would like to see picture with Magazine in.

The mag void in the 1911 sits well forward in the grip. A significant portion of the grip is taken up with the Main Spring Housing and it's ignition components.

Flint Rock you lucky bastard :D that is one beautiful and highly functional .45 pistol. I like the Bobtail, I have been contemplating for some time of bobbing my pistols. They seem to conceal much better with that grip butt corner missing.

Oh, okay, thanks for clarifying. Random thought in a post about a guy's Nighthawk that doesn't have front serrations.

It gets your front sight back down quicker. If you're used to shooting a 1911 without it and fire one with it, you'd be surprised at how much more quickly follow up shots can be squeezed off.

I don't like the way bobtails fit my hand. I'd deal with printing before I dealt with a bobtail.
