I would like to know if all Semi-auto DA/SA pistols operation the same.
As you insert the magazine does a cartridge auto load into the chamber?
I know it may sound stupid, I have aCZ85 and it does not load a cartridge upon inserting the mag., do others as well? Of course I must cock slide to insert cartridge. I see it as a safety feature.

The safety only works when in single action mode.

    Thank, please be kind.

Any semi-auto should load from the magazine when the slide is racked (or as you say "cocked")
If the slide is held to the rear with the slide release, inserting the fresh magazine, should not cause the slide to move forward on its own. The operator should do some action. If loading a fresh magazine, the slide moves forward on its own, then something could be wrong and the firearm should be looked at by a gunsmith.

Bottom line: No the cartridge should not "auto load into the chamber".

If you do not have a users manual for your CZ85, I would highly suggest that you get one. There is a sticky about manuals, or go to the manufacturers web site and download one. Once you have it, then read it (at least a couple of times). We will be glad to answer any questions.

Do they make mods for handguns that automatically make the slide move forward and rack a round when a mag is inserted? I swear I saw a Glock mod that did that...The shooter pushed in the magazine and the slide moved forward by itself when he did so

I've seen lots of guns do this and it's generally because of a worn slide stop...
