Hello all my name is Nick. I'm from Louisville, KY. I love Kentucky Basketball and shooting guns. I have been a member for a while but forgot to introduce myself.

I am the first and only member of my immediate family that owns a gun. I recently had to sell off all of my guns, except for my M&P Shield to get through tough times in this horrible economy. Realizing I didn't have a high capacity gun for home defense, I bought a M&P9 VTAC. I'm glad to have a forum where I can communicate with people that have the same passion I do for firearms.

Guns previously owned:
Berreta 92FS .40 INOX
XD 9 Service
Marlin 336 30-30
Savage Axis .223
S&W M&P 15OR
Delton Sierra 316H
Glock 34 Gen 4
Ruger SR556E

Guns owned:
M&P Shield 9mm
M&P VTAC 9mm

I hope to be buying/building another AR-15 soon.

Anyways. Glad to join this forum. Thanks for all the help I have gotten so far.

Welcome Nick!! I live just south of Louisville - what ranges do you shoot at?

We should get together and do a local shoot.

I'm a member at TG&G and do monthly shoots at KC. Open Range is nice, but pricey.

Welcome!!!!
I know their is a wide variety of handguns out their, ranging in all calipers. But I am looking at either the Beretta 92fs or the S&W, m&p. Can any one give me their opinion on these two fire arms. And the purpose for the purchase is home defense and going to the range.
If any body else has any other opinion on other models out their I am open to all and any suggestions. Thanks

I own a M&P9 VTAC and my dad recently bought a Beretta 92FS. Both are around the same $650 mark. I prefer Polymer over steel. Plus American made. Plus Lifetime warranty. None of which the Beretta 92fs offers.

My dad on the other hand has seen his gun in countless late 80's/early 90's movies but doesn't know it. He LOVESthe Beretta. I like it too. But wouldn't spend that much on it when he could have got a Glock, M&P or XD for less. But he loves it.

All about personal preference. Once he picked it up in the store, he was sold. I told him to wait and an hour later he brought it home. Find something that feels right in your hand and you can't go wrong.
Welcome, Louisville here too. Well, actually, Shively, which is kind of a different world in some ways...;)
