So during cleaning I decided I wanted to take off the mag well since I have never tried before. It is a Sig STX 1911 and there is a screw on the bottom of the mag well and dont know if I have to take it out before I push out the pin. I do not want to cause damage and though I should ask you all first.

Also are there any special tools needed to do this?

yes it is. I am wanting to take it of and give it a quick wipe down, that's all. Does it need to come out before the pin or can I simply punch the pin out with the screw intact?

Mines a little different (dovetailed) -
I just leave it & remove the MSH pin & pull as a unit.
