Just picked this up from a local shooter. Have not had a chance to tear it down yet, it has a decent amount of cosmo seeping out. Is there a way to date this rifle, I think the M48As were made for a pretty good span of years. Looking at the bore, I agree with the seller, I don't think this rifle has ever been fired or if it has been, it was very few rounds. It will look a lot prettier once it is cleaned up. Not pictured is an original leather sling, which I really dig but it sticks out too much to let the rifle fit into my overcrowded safe.

Can't wait to take this one out to shoot!

That's a nice Yugo. Great bore, nice stock. Unissued like most of the later M48s. Nice find! Congrats.

I've had my eye out for about a year. Lots of M48s out there but hard to find really nice ones at a reasonable cost. Wideners has 'em for $269.00, so does Samco for even less, but they are not this nice. That's the downside to buying over the web, you can't see the actual rifle you are buying until it arrives. I prefer to have a hands on inspection but it means a lot more waiting, hunting and frustration. This one worked out well though, this is a nice rifle.

Thanks for the info on the places that have them. I, like you would like to see before i buy. But if I can't find one around here I may just order one that I think is going to be good and hope for the best.

I almost bought a Yugo M48 one time at a local mil-surp gunstore, can't remembered why I passed it up but I wish I had now.

Bought one about 9 years ago...appeared unfired...they are very nice...think I gave $150.00...thought high at the time...guess it wasn't now.

This one ran me a little under $250.00 and I was very happy to get it. I could have bought a "Select" from Samco for $229.00 but I spoke with their grader and even they didn't think their selects were in REALLY excellent shape, just good. Plus no UPS, waiting for the delivery.

Yea, you got a nice one. I really want one. I've been looking for a Mauser 98k in good shape too, but they're hard to find in good shape or nobody has them. That's why I started looking at the M48.

Nice 98ks in good shape sell for about three to five times as much as these too, that's a factor. I like the 98k but not enough to shell out the big bucks.

That's the truth. I could buy a 48 plus 2 Glocks for that money.

I am a shooter first and a collector second. I don't think 98ks shoot a whole lot better than a new M48 so there is that to factor in. Sure, 98ks are cool as heck but as far as what you can do with it and how much it cost you, not sure if that value equation works for me.

I bought an exc cond. K98k for $399 at a local gun shop a few months ago. It was an RC but bore is mint, nothing peened or x out. So unfortunately you have to be at the right place at the right time. Finally, I prefer my serbian 24/47 mauser over my 98k because its a lot more accurate.

Wow, that's a good deal. Not too many of those around at that price.
