Mayor Blumberg has decided to go ahead with the marathon and use resources that could go to the victims of Sandy. Two huge generators in Central Park for the media coverage, trailers of bottled water, city employees and such.

There are elderly people in high rises that can't get down and have no food and water. People are dumpster diving for food on manhatten island. Statten Island is without any services.

I think this decision is morally wrong on the Mayors part, maybe even criminal.

Does he really have the power to cancel it? It is run by an insurance company.

How many hundreds of city workers does it take to set this up and run the damn thing? Couldnt they be more useful where they have no gas, food, water or power?

He certanly can not take the generators away from people currnetly depending on them for a fricken race. Or the police protection that will be pulled from many areas so some folks can have a fun run.

Not to mention all the other resources this thing takes. New Yorkers get what they deserve for voting this moron in to office.

Yahoo is reporting that bloomers sobered up and cancelled it now.

It occurs to me that the sponsors have probably already paid up.

Nike or one of the other sponsors probably threatened to sue.
