Anything I really need to know about the series 186 Mini 14? I assume it will be ok to use .556 ammo in it. Or am I assuming too much? Anyone know where I can find out for sure?
I got a really good deal on it and would hate to hurt it. Its a stainless model too.

You are fine shooting 223 and 5.56 Nato ammo. You can see online manuals at Ruger.com.

congrats and welcome to the mini club! 5.56 is fine. it seems to have noticeably more recoil imo....but its still nothing to worry about in that department! :p

i love the stainless mini! enjoy it!

Could create too much pressure with 5.56....and wear out the gun faster at the least....

All Mini-14s are chambered to fire the .223 and 5.56 except the Mini-14 Target Model, which is chambered only for the commercial.223 ammo.

Wineshine, have your facts straight before posting. The 5.56 will not create over pressure or wear out the barrel any faster than commercial.223 ammo will in the Mini-14.....
