Hello everyone. I am new to gunsmithing, and I was wondering what the basics were to it. I want to go to a school in Colorado that I've heard is great for gunsmithing, I just forgot the name. But I just wanted to get a basic knowledge of it before I go to that school in a few years. Thanks!

Get a good back ground in machining, welding, soldering, and wood working. otherwise just go to the school. Passing on "the basic knowledge in a few paragraphs on an internet forum would not really be possible.

Read and absorb as much as you can. Pull your guns apart and put them back together alot.

Trinidad State Junior College is the one you are looking for. I am applying for them and Yavapai College in Arizona but I will more then likely go with Yavapai College. Maybe I will see you at one of them one day. As stated above pull your guns apart repeatedly until you get a good grasp of the workings. Study up on different actions and how they work, ballistics etc.
