Hello everyone. My name is Andy and I'm from NH. Just got into gun ownership recently and am in the process of learning. I've shot at the range a few times and recently bought a glock 17 and I love it. I hope to get to the range a bit more oftenand try out some other caliber guns. Any recommendations and advice for a newbie is appreciated. Thanks and see you guys around the boards.

Welcome! First recommendation if you haven't done so already is to take a basic and intermediate handgun class ASAP.

Safety. Training. Practice. Safety. Training. Practice. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Develop correct safety and shooting habits now before you develop bad ones that are hard to break.

Here's a bit of advice to take to heart. Anyone who says that ________ gun is the best, be very skeptical of anything else they say. There is no "best" handgun, rifle, shotgun, etc.

And go take a gun safety class. Take two or three if you have the time.

Welcome! Safety Safety safety. Best three pieces of advice for new pistols shooters ( besides assuming it's always loaded. It is ...always. forever. )

1) Keep your dam finger OFF the trigger until you're ready to shoot.
2) squeeze with the end pad of your trigger finger, not the inside of your knuckle.
3) practice as much as you can afford to.
