I was in the local gun shop today and saw the new Springfield Mico Compact 1911 and was wondering if anyone had one? I am thinking about getting it but the price tag is almost $700. The gun shop owner had a bad habit of jacking up the price. Yet everywhere I have looked on line they are sold out. Does anyone have any information on the pistol, cost, and where I could purchase one.
That would be the one. Do you have one or know anyone that has shoot one? What is good and bad about the pistol? Or anyone like that.
The tiny 1911s (3 or 3 1/2 inch bbl) tend to be about the crankiest I've seen. They are hard on springs and very sensitive to mags. I've owned a couple (Kimber & Springer) and I find no huge benefits over a 4 inch model. The last time Bud's had a 4 inch in stock it was $516. Look at the small RIA guns, Cane recently posted about one that had a nice look and a nice price: http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f57/rock-island-sub-compacts-26069/#post270011 The RIA has much better sights, beavertail, etc. - for much less $$$...
Like NGIB said, the Rock Island compact model is a great gun and is alot cheaper. I have one and like it alot.
I have never owned or shot a compact 1911 with a 3" barrel. I have heard different reports about how bad they are to shoot. More recoil and very picky on what you can feed them. What is the major difference between the 3" and 4" 1911's. All the 1911's that I have had have been 5" model's. Guess I am just old school.
