Well I did it. I broke down and bought a ultra compact 1911 that has been bugging me. Once again, I choose SIG over all others after lots of research.

I had confided in Cane yesterday I was going to get a STI Spartan III Ultra. He gave me some advice on a holster and what not.

1st on the STI. Great looking gun! All the things you want. Skeleton hammer, skeleton trigger, nice sight, and beaver tail. STI I have always thought was one of the most under rated 1911 of all time. However. The Spartan III come to find out, Arms Corporation of the Philippines makes their Spartan line. The Spartan line for STI is nothing more than a glorified Rock Island. I could save 300.00 and buy a nice R.I. if I wanted that.

Next I looked at the Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II. Two tone and looked nice!
at 1029.00 I found too little for too much money. Issues were 1. Only one magazine included in the sale. 2. The main spring housing felt like plastic. The checkering on the MSH was minimal to say the least. Because of the Crimson trace the front of the grip had no checkering at all. If you had to fire that lil sucker in a high stress situation there is almost no grip to that gun. 3. For myself, I thought the sights were to big. I have become accustomed to low profile sights.

Next I looked at SIGs Ultra two tone. 899.99 2 SS magazines included . MSH has aggressive checkering and front grip as well. Low profile night sights that really glow. and I like that SIG cut slide!

Easy choice for the SIG in the end. I can not wait to fire it! Now I need another holster! S&S that my last custom for my SIG commander said at least a month. I don't wanna wait again! Enjoy the pics.

Very nice...now tell us how many times did the words "buy a Colt" come up in your conversation with Cane? :p Seriously, nice choice...hard to go wrong with a Sig. Like they used to say...nobody ever got fired for choosing IBM.

I'm at work and I can't see any pictures. But congratulations, Dodger. We want to see a range report soon. New guns are always so much fun.

Ahh...the pictures finally popped up. It's a beautiful gun. I know I love my little Sig. Those night sights are awesome. Very nice looking gun.

Thanks Winds, everybody. The pics posted were stock photos but I will get some real ones up maybe a bit later. I have to borrow a camera.

Springfield has the marketing slogan "The .380 was a cute fad. Now, let's get back to business."

That's how I feel about this ultra compact.

In 1911s it's Colt for me but I have two HKs, and I feel they are a better choice then a SIG.;)

Well I bought a S&W PPK/s in .380 for a lite carry handgun when required, with the new updated .380 Ammo. now being made, Fad or Not the .380 handguns will be around a long time to come.

Nice little family you got there I don't think you can go wrong with a Sig, according to my brother n law who's retired Army small arms specialist, he always had S&W, SA, Kimbers and Beretta's but had very few Sig's come through the shop and the one's that did it was operator error most of the time.

I used my first and only 1911, a Springfield Armory 1911 as a trade-in on a Sig P-220. I love the Sig, all Sigs, but something kept drawing me back to the 1911. So on impulse, I bought an all steel Colt Commander 1911, new, with sights I could actually use. But it wasn't a full size 1911, what to do? Again, on impulse a month later, I bought a full size stainless steel Sig 1911 Carry, beautiful gun with night sights. When I got the Colt in my hand, and later when I got the Sig 1911 in my hand, I literally could not let go before I made them mine. And this from a Glock/Sig man. There's just something special about a well made 1911. I expect to buy at least one more, or maybe two.

Glock, I used to be a Glock guy getting into flame wars and having fun with 1911 guy. I have owned the G-17,19,26,27,32, and 36 (twice!) All of em gone. 1911 carried locked and loaded, nothing like it. IDK if I can carry another but 1911

I bought my first 1911 a SIG Scorpion carry, I have to admit the railed really bothered me and I couldn't carry it like I wanted too. I then bought my SIG Nitron commander that I could carry. Then this past week or so I bought my Ultra compact. The Scorpion and the Nitron have been so flawless when I went to buy my Ultra, I knew it was gonna be SIG again.

My next 1911 will probably be a Sig, Commander sized, with night sites and no rail, Nitron finish. Sounds like you may have bought my dream gun. My Sig 1911 has a brushed stainless finish. I really prefer black in a carry gun. My Colt Commander is black, but I'd like to have night sights. I put Hogue finger-groove grips on my Colt, but not on my Sig. The Sig just feels too good the way it is.

My first handgun was a Glock 22 (.40 S&W). I used to get into good-natured arguments with a Sig guy. We were at a range and the Sig guy's son rented several .45s, including a 1911. We traded guns back and forth at the range and when I shot the "rented" 1911 for the first time, it was fantastically smooth and accurate. I knew I had to have one. So I bought a used Springfield Armory 1911A1 that I had and shot for several years. I finally traded it in for more than I paid for it on a Sig P-220. Love the Sig, miss the 1911.

So I guess I'm a Glock/Sig/1911 guy. Maybe a little bit of a CZ guy too.
