My boss just bought a new WASR-10 that appears to have a major problem. When chambering a round the bolt will not go into full battery without forcing it forward the last half an inch. I switched out parts with my WASR-10 with the same results, and his parts worked fine in my gun. I sent it to a gunsmith who couldn't figure it out! It appears to have a fundamental flaw that is beyond me and the gunsmith to diagnose. What can be done with such a gun, other than to scrap it for parts?

If it is new, take it back.

Send it to me. I will try to fix it or break it even worse.

    Try a different gunsmith.

Before you give up the ship, check the gas tube alignment. It sounds like the gas piston is hanging up in the tube. Check for an obstruction in the end of the tube as well. Swap the tubes and see if his gun will run. This happens on quite a few WASR's.

    Problem solved

Good news! The dealer took it back, gave my boss another new one. He got to choose from three, new in the box! Thanks for the tips. :D
