    55,

I see you got a good trigger. Is that the same one used in the 40X? Keep us informed and send more pictures when you get your project farther on the road and also when it is completed. And of course a Range Report later!
    That is an exciting project!

thanks 03. i had my gun dealer order it from brownells. they don't even list it in their catalog, but is listed on the website. the trigger is listed as the X-Mark Pro trigger in the description. not for sure if this is the same trigger used on the 40X or not. on the remington website it only states the 40X trigger being adjustable, really not a lot of detail about it. but the regular model 700's have the X-Mark Pro triggers on them. kinda of confusing. will post pictures as the build progresses. next week or two i will ship it off to get the barrel installed. they told me about 10-12 week turn around on it.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product. The only reason I thought it was the same as the trigger in my 40X is what looks like an adjustment on yours by the trigger.

03, there is an adjustment on the trigger shoe, which my other remington 700's don't have. so i not for sure at all on the newer remington triggers if this is standard on the newer ones. BTW, what is the difference between the 40X and the M700? i have seen and heard of the 40X, but have never held one. just curious.

Nice. I can't wait to see what you do with it. What caliber is it?

decided on 6.5mm-06. will have a 26" barrel, contour is to be similar to the remington sendaro (.830 muzzle diameter) barrel threaded for muzzlebrake. i'm leaning hard towards a H-S Precision stock and triggerguard and maybe a detachable magazine (not fully decided yet). thanks.

    55,

Did some research and contacted a friend I know on the trigger you have. That is Remington's New X Mark Pro Trigger. He advised they came out with it in 2009 and it should be a good one. It can be adjusted down to a minimum of 2.5 LB. Trigger Pull. But I prefer to set them at a minimum of 3.5 Lbs. Can' wait to see her when you get it completed.

thanks 03 for the info. this trigger is a little different than my other remingtons. i looked at it a little closer last night, and it seems to have also three other adjustment screws with what looks to be lacquer over them. i will google some info on the x-mark triggers and see if i can learn a little more about them. i will keep everyone posted as the build progresses. thanks for encouragement.

well update on the rifle. ordered the recoil lug and reloading dies this weekend from Midway. ordered the 6.5mm-06 RCBS dies, so i am now fully commited to building in that caliber now! on a side note, i compared the ballistics of the 6.5mm-06 to the 6.5-284 Norma, and i really like them better. almost 200-300 fps faster! with 100gr bullet, almost 3500fps, thats fast!

well the big day has arrived! getting the action ready to ship of and have the barrel installed. can't wait till it gets back so i can start putting it together. right now i am trying to decide between the H-S Precision stock or the McMillan. any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

The stock is a decision you alone can make. I like the Mcmillan Competition Baker but it is a hidden mag only. Can't wait to see your choice.

762, i can't wait myself. this has been thought out very carefully and a lot of research was put into it before one dollar was spent. i am looking forward to the day when i can post pictures of the finished rifle!

dteed, yes i agree with you, and at first i had it narrowed down to either one of the McMillen stocks or one of H-S Precision's stocks. but i have given myself another choice now, Richard's Microfit stocks, as i do like wood stocks too, and have been giving some thought to a nice looking laminated wood stock or maybe walnut. it is still long ways off before i have to make a decision. maybe two different stocks for one barreled action? hmm!

tony, i do really like wood stocks, it's just another option i'm kicking around. i still have several months before the barreled action comes back, and like i said, i might have two different stocks for the action. just something i have thought about. not fully decided yet.
