So I am thinking about getting a new bp pistol purely for the heck of it. What are recommendations as to what to get and why? I don't want to spend to much and I see uberti has them for under 200 all day long. This is from a complete powder newbie.
    Thanks

The most popular at their high water mark might have been the Remington New Model Army. I'd say you can't go wrong with the size and design of this arm. In the looks department the late Colt's are unique artworks -- other options would be an 1861 Navy or 1860 Army but try gripping those first if you can.

Where do you find Uberti's for under 200? The 58 Remington is probably the most user friendly. Not that the Colt design is that hard.

Those are Pietta's except for the Walker, Dragoons, Cattleman's carbine and some of the pocket pistols(all above 200). Stay away from the brass frames unless you just want to shoot wussy loads. Brass won't hold up to full charges.

I stopped in a Cabelas on my way to Alabama last week, and they had a big sale on, Piettas and Ubertis, with some down to $179.

The steel frame 1858 Remington copy by Pietta withat Cabelas would be a good choice for a new everyday shooter.

Ya they hold up just not very long:eek:

and never hot load a brass frame revolver. that will help to stretch them out faster.
