Hey, Joel. I just joined today as well. How far are you from the Big Chicken?

In the price range you are working with, I would recommend an RIA 1911A1. But then, I am an old timer, and that is the handgun I cut my teeth on (back when I had teeth). There is a reason the 1911 has been popular for 96 years.

RIA's are crap. They are not milspec; even though they advert that they are. I know folks who have had lots of parts not work; including milspec mags from Chip McCormick. Heck, you know some of those folks too. ;-)
Hey bud, not everyone is as wealthy as you. And I don't know who your are talking about. :D

I have never met an RIA owner who was unhappy with the gun. I have met a lot of RIA non-owners who own expensive 1911s and call RIAs crap. ;)

I own no RIAs, but rather a couple of expensive 1911s, but I have shot RIAs and most of them shot better than my expensive Springer.
