Last week I was reading the forum and came across the “Request help to pick a kit” thread by Junior Member Enderwig where he asked about the Sharps Mil Spec lower receiver being sold for $55 each from RGuns online.

I checked them out and decided what the hell and ordered two of them. They came in last night and I will have to say that I am impressed with them. I compared them to my DTI and CMMG lowers and could not distinguish any apparent differences.

I can’t wait to build on them, but that is where in lies the problem. Now that I finished mine and Linda’s patrol rifle’s I haven’t thought to build anything else.

What to do, what to do… what a dilemma. I have been thinking of building a 22 for the grandkids to teach them to shoot but other than that I’m at a loss.

    Any suggestions?

Here are some pics of the receivers. Oh yeah they are consecutive S/N’s.

This is what I have been touting for over two years now. With this common age of CNC machining and much tighter tolerances, a receiver, a receiver is a receiver.

Unless you are buying one that Jumbo chipped out of an old engine block in his garage with a hand drawn sketch, mallet and screwdriver, you are probably getting a receiver that you can build a great shooting stick with.

I am not surprised at all to hear that you can't see much difference in these "lower" end receivers.

Question though, why not share this news with the open forum?

JD, my experience is fairly low on building my own AR's. I've worked on military for many years but very little on the civilian side. I did not want to compromise the integrity of the forum by touting lower priced receivers as a great buy if I missed something. I am pretty impressed with these but thought to ask the members who had much more experience what they thought first. I don't have a problem putting my post out to the open forum as long as I don't sound like a mall ninja touting $45 Katanna's. :D

I can understand that. But, finding a good priced product, that meets your expectations, is always good information to share.

I can move the thread if you want, but I will leave the choice to you...

They look pretty darn good. And that's an excellent price. I've got nothing against lower end (or priced) receivers, and have never knocked them. One that was about that same price a month or two ago were these:
SI Defense Billet AR Lower Receivers
Out of Montana. My bro-in-law ordered a few of those, so we'll see how they look when his order comes in.

Dzscubie, if you could, pin one of those lowers to an upper assembly and let us know how they fit-up?

For the price, that's an excellent buy.

Hey Slo your wish is my .... request. only Linda gets to command me :D
Here are some pics of the lower with my DTI upper mounted, it fits really tight and has no rattle and just a tiny bit of wiggle but I think that will disappear when I get the take down pins put in.

Thank you Sir. They look very good. A little bit of a finish difference, but I don't think the BG's or Zombies would notice that too much.

    Excellent buy.
