Im new to this site and am very exited to increase my knowledge about firearms. I have been going to the range for about a year with my Dad and friends and love it. I recently got my own gun which is a smith and wesson sd40ve and so far i like it. Now Im interested in a new firearm and Im seeking advice. Im thinking between either a smaller compact gun, possibly for concealment later down the road, or a smaller caliber lever action rifle. If anyone has any suggestions I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.

Window shop and get an idea of type, caliber and size. Find a range that rents guns and try all that feel comfortable in your hand.

As far as "small caliber" lever action, a Henry .22lr is all that comes to mind right now. A .30-.30 is nice to shoot, and ammo is usually plentiful. If all you plan on is range time, a lever in a pistol caliber is a hoot to shoot, and cheaper than a rifle caliber.

Advice

A 22 magnum is good if your going to be doing some small hunting with it but if its going to be used mostly for range time and punching holds in inamimate objects then a 22 LR would be a lot more cost effective. Welcome and glad you found us.
