Hey everyone im brand new to the forum and guns in general!!! Ok so heres the deal, I've been wanting a shotgun for quite some time and i finally decided to get one! Im looking for one that i can do pretty much everything with but mainly for skeet shooting and deer hunting. Iv been looking at some 12 gauges and i like the Benelli Supernova, anyone know anything about it? And i don't wanna spend more than about $800. Also what length of a barrel should i get? Benelli supernova come is 24",26",& 28"? Thanks guys and any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!!

I have the Supernova and love it. It is my all around gun not great for birds being that is a pump but I use it for everything. Any questions about it just ask?

For skeet, 28-inches to 30-inch barrels. For trap and sporting clays 30-inches to 32-inch barrels. For bird hunting in the field, shorter and lighter is usually the rule. So, all things considered, a good 'overall' length is 28-inches.

    I have 28" on my Baretta 391 - 12 ga and Remington 1187 20 ga + 870 20 ga.
Why ? Longer barrels just swing smoother. I would also advise you to get a gas gun for skeet w a good recoil pad.

A good instructor can help alot and dramatically shorten your learning curve. (Several good threads on skeet and skeet guns)

check your states game laws. they can be accessed online usually and will tell you what you need to hunt legally what is required.

just Google Florida Game Laws and Regulations. it should pull up a state website that will detail all the rules, regulations and requirements.

Your parents can buy it and then let you use it, but legally you can't buy it through them. Its called a straw purchase and that is 100% illegal.

    Just my 2¢

As long as you don't give them money you are prolly in the clear.

    But I'm no lawyer.

    Google FWC-Hunting-

You will need a Hunting License, Deer Permit, and depending on

where you hunt, permits to hunt that land, as is the case with many

    WMAs.

LEARN the Hunting Regulations, front-to-back, back-to-front.

When you voluntarily venture into the field to hunt with a firearm,

you are expected to know the rules, and are punished, without

    mercy, for infractions.
